Assembler – Nelson Truss

 Nelson Truss Inc is seeking to hire an experienced Assembler to work in our Edgerton Truss plant. This is a first shift position, hours are 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with overtime likely through summer.

Job duties include:

  • Assist in the construction and assembly of metal plated wood trusses using jig systems such as rolling gantry table and hand press systems.

  • Lift and handle dimensional lumber of varying sizes and lengths.

  • Climb on to jig systems to arrange material properly.

  • Retrieve metal connector plates per shop drawings and place them in proper locations for building trusses.

  • Operate forklift to move lumber carts, trash, etc.

  • Mark trusses with tag numbers.

  • Use metal strap banders to tie truss batches together.

  • Re-stock plates, lumber carts, pallets, etc.

  • Perform general area clean-up duties.


Qualifications:
A qualified applicant will have basic carpentry knowledge, ability to read and follow engineered drawings, a basic understanding of lumber sizes/grades/types, ability to use trade tools (such as saws, hammers, squares, tape measures, etc.), basic understanding and use of arithmetic along with the ability to use a calculator, and ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
